i decided to do this because we have a lot of stupid jokes so we will be able to make a lot of related podcasts in the future

well i was able to record it on my laptop because the new macbook pro is a very big advance in technology which made it easy to record and save as a wmv

When it comes to technology I must say that i couldn’t possible live without it. I don’t know what I would do if I had to send my mail by carriage to just get one sentence to a friend across the country. Cell phones make living so much easier. Not only do they make having a social life easier but cell phones also play a huge role in the workplace nowadays. Boss’s are now texting their employees to get a job done more efficiently and it has been proven to work. Schools, no matter how unlikely it might seem, are also places where cell phones are starting to become a lot more useful. In an online article called “Open Education” by Thomas Edgerington he states a few ways that cell phones can be effectively used in school.

A partial list of the ways that teachers cell phones included:

• Timing experiments with stopwatch
• Photographing apparatus and results of experiments for reports
• Photographing development of design models for eportfolios
• Photographing texts/whiteboards for future review
• Bluetoothing project material between group members
• Receiving SMS & email reminders from teachers
• Synchronizing calendar/timetable and setting reminders
• Connecting remotely to school learning platform
• Recording a teacher reading a poem for revision
• Accessing revision sites on the Internet
• Creating short narrative movies
• Downloading and listening to foreign language podcasts
• Logging into the school email system
• Using GPS to identify locations
• Transferring files between school and home

Aside from cell phones another obvious technological advance that has made life easier in the 21st century is the use of computers. Many people have found that sending large pdf files and essays to a boss or a teacher are easily accomplished through the use of the internet. People have evolved the internet into a mass of information that is widely used. Soon the library will become a deserted place because of the internet. Everyone can just get what they want at home with a click of a button.

Positives

1. Video game playing introduces children to computer and information technology.
2. Games can give practice in following directions.
3. Some games provide practice in problem solving and logic.
4. Games can provide practice in use of fine motor and spatial skills.
5. Games can provide occasions for parent and child to play together.
6. Players are introduced to information technology.
7. Some games have therapeutic applications with patients.
8. Games are entertaining and fun.

He raises some very thought provoking questions.

• What do you need to know, when most of recorded knowledge is a mouse-click away?
• How do you distinguish between good knowledge and bad knowledge?
• What does it do to the value of information, when everyone is a producer?
• How do we address ethics, when we are empowering our students with such prevailing skills?

I tried to breech this topic with my graduate level preservice teachers. They just arent seeing it. They are so hung up on meeting the standards and giving kids the predetermined curriculum that they are blind to the fact that while having a minimum standards level of academic competency is important–it isnt all there is to becoming educated or to preparing kids to be successful in the 21st century.
